Job Description

Laboratory Mechanical Testing Technician tests products to the material specifications.
Essential Functions
Technicians measure the hardness, strength, flexibility, ductility, and other properties of metals.
Maintain daily quality control logs for equipment.
Follow detailed work instructions and specifications to perform testing correctly.
Troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as performing repairs.
Documenting processes and maintaining mechanical service records.
Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies.
Optimizing mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings.
Communicate with team members on estimated completion times for jobs.
Training co-workers on the safe and efficient use of mechanical machinery and equipment.
Maintaining a tidy work environment and adhering to industry regulations.
Non-Essential Functions
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Must possess at least a high school diploma or the equivalent. Interest and understanding of mechanical properties desired.
Ability to act competently in emergencies.
Organized and detail-oriented
Performs tasks with minimal supervision.
Quality and safety focused.
Preferred
Some knowledge of mechanical drawings, designs, testing, and processes.
Ability to understand detailed part drawings with measurements.
Strong communication skills
Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs outside of business hours.

Conducts tests and inspections of material to determine if it meets requirements.
Watches gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Must give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as
appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Determines the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision making.
Selects and uses training methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
Able to control operations of equipment or systems.
Performs routine maintenance on equipment and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to
problems.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
Work is performed during regular work hours. May stay after hours and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines as needed.
Standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time – up to 8 hours or more per day.
Work in varying degrees of temperature (heated or air conditioned).
Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects for an extended amount of time
Position requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
Position is placed in an oily and dusty environment which will require the employee to wear safety eye protection, earplugs,
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in certain areas it is required to wear a bump cap.
Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and
seeing.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, working 1 st shift: 8:30am – 5:00pm, with minimum required 30-minute lunch break. Must be at your work
station by the start of your shift. Ability to work overtime is required. Ability to work on Saturdays may be required per
company scheduled needs. Schedule may change per company needs.
