Job Description
The Machine Set-Up Operator ensures machinery is set up, works properly, and conforms with (and can produce materials that
conform with) company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards.
Essential Functions
Sets up and operates machine tools according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts.
Studies blueprints, work orders, and other specifications to ensure the proper setup sequence is followed.
Selects, places, and secures tools.
Places and secures workpieces in proper machine table, vice, chuck or other appropriate surface using clamps and
wrenches.
Prepares fixtures and jaws, starts machine, and engages feed.
Observes each machine to verify quality performance.
Verifies measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers are in proper working order.
Sets and adjusts necessary controls to regulate machines.
Sharpens tools with bench grinder as needed.
Deburrs parts
Performs preventative maintenance
Checks and refills oil and coolant levels
Keeps machines and area clean
Performs other related duties as assigned.
CNC
Operate Manual and CNC machines while working from routing sheets and blue prints to create high precision parts for
testing purposes
Machine parts using Manual and CNC machines for customized testing processes
Set up and operated CNC and manual machining equipment for high precision testing components.
Validated the programming, checked the accuracy of CNC programs, and edited programs.
Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills.
Run Haas CNC Lathe TL-1, Hwacheon Lathe – Hi-ECO 21 HS, Manual Cadillac lathe, and other equipment when needed.
Repair and fabrication of machined parts using Conventional and CNC machinery.
Close tolerance machine work.
MACHINE PARTS
Perform fine detail operations, with conventional and NC/CNC mills and machining centers on production parts.
Machine parts per government specs from aluminum, titanium and hardened steels.
Machine parts from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
Machine parts using reverse engineering techniques Manufacture machinery parts from too badly damaged components to
determine dimensions
JOB DESCRIPTION
HAND TOOLS
Loaded and removed materials and products into machines and equipment, using hand tools and
moving devices.
Mill, Hand Tools, etc.
Operate hand tools/other machinery as necessary to complete production.
Inspect parts using hand tools as well as CMM, adjust programs based on quality feedback.
Mount and position tools in machine chucks, spindles, or other tool holding devices, using hand tools.
Dismantled machines or equipment, using hand tools or power tools
MANUAL MILL
Operated manual mills, manual grinders, and wet grinder.
Operated manual mill, lathe, cold and band saws producing components and supporting fabrication.
Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and precision grinding machines.
Operated manual milling machines, metal turning lathes.
SHOP EQUIPMENT
Operated and maintained all machine shop equipment.
Advanced setup and operated machine shop equipment.
Set up and operate standard machine shop equipment Lathes, Milling machines, drill presses, and surface grinder.
Managed and scheduled jobs for machinists Set up and operated all types of machine shop equipment.
Operate all manual shop equipment. Rebuilds as well as new parts.
Non-Essential Functions
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with experience or vocational/technical certification required.
Manufacturing experience is required.
Test Lab Machining experience is a plus.
Must have at least 2-5 years’ experience as an CNC operator or similar job.
Basic reading, writing and mathematics skills.
Comfortable working independently and in a team environment.
Able to stand all day and lift up to 50 lbs.
Quality and safety focused.
Preferred
Strong verbal and oral communication skills
Well versed in reading blueprints, using measuring devices such as micrometer, caliper.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough understanding of mechanics and other properties of machines.
Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams, and blueprints.
